The following pictures show Mike, David Mozambite and Chuck Egbert from MMS on an RR team to Missionary Flights International (MFI). For those of you who are not familiar with the term, RR does not mean Rest and Relaxation!! What it means is Rapid Response which is part of the ministry of MMS, to serve missions in field as the need arises.
They drove down to Fort Pierce, Florida to do a Hot Section Inspection (HSI) on their turbo prop powered DC3. An HSI entails splitting the engine into two major sections so they can inspect the turbine area for deterioration. The left engine was in good shape but the right engine required a significant amount of work and replacement parts to bring it back to an airworthy condition. These inspections are only performed once every two years and require the use of specialized tools, which MMS has. As many of you know we at MMS do not charge labor for the work that we do so we can serve missions and keep costs to minimum.
